FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from GB/T 1972.2-2023 and daily export practice.

Which series should I choose — A, B or C?

Series B is the balanced default (h₀/t ≈ 0.75). Choose A when force matters more than travel (h₀/t ≈ 0.40) and C when travel matters more than force (h₀/t ≈ 1.30).

What does F₁ in the tables mean?

F₁ is the test load measured at H₁ = H₀ − 0.75 h₀, i.e. at about 75 % of the cone height. It is the reference load used for acceptance in GB/T 1972.2-2023.

What is the largest standard disc spring?

Ø250 × Ø127 mm in all three series; in Series A with 14 mm nominal thickness (13.1 mm reduced t₁), test load about 249 kN.

Why are some thicknesses written like "8 (7.5)"?

Groups 2 and 3 are made with supporting surfaces: the material thickness is 8 mm and the reduced thickness at the supporting surfaces is t₁ = 7.5 mm.

Can disc springs be electroplated?

Not recommended — hydrogen embrittlement. The standard advises phosphating or similar treatments instead (cl. 6.7).

How long do disc springs last in dynamic duty?

Life depends on the stress range. GB/T 1972.2-2023 provides diagrams for 10⁵, 5×10⁵ and 2×10⁶ cycles; shot peening improves these values. A minimum pre-deflection of about 0.15–0.20 h₀ is recommended.
